Artist Highlight and Debut Album Review – Sam Kim (샘 김)

Artist Sam Kim has recently debuted with his first album ‘My Name Is Sam’. The talented singer and guitarist is signed under Yoo Hee Yeol’s label Antenna Music. Sam was the runner up on Season 3 of popular SBS show K-Pop Star.

‘My Name is Sam’ contains three songs and I gave it a listen today. I didn’t watch K-Pop Star 3 so this is my first time hearing Sam’s music.

1- Mama Don’t Worry

The first thing that struck me was the deep, mature tone in this 18-year-old artist’s voice.  There aren’t many male vocalists that have come out of competition shows like K-Pop Star or Superstar K  that have caught my attention (besides Eddy Kim) but I am really excited to hear more from Sam Kim. You can find the lyrics here.

2 – Seattle

Sam is Korean-American and in this song dedicated to his hometown he showcases his strong vocals in both English and Korean.

3 – Your Song

In this song, Sam is joined by fellow Antenna Music artists Lee Jinah, Jung Seunghwan and Kwon Jinah and all of their voices blend beautifully. I would love to hear this one performed live.
